Make an arrangement to pay

You should only complete a payment arrangement offer if you have received a summons. This will allow us to consider an acceptable payment arrangement. We may even agree to extend payments outside the current financial year.

It would be helpful if you could make a list of your income and outgoings, before you contact us. This will help us work out how much you can reasonably afford to repay each week or month. You need to make sure that you can maintain the payment arrangement so that you do not fall further in to debt.

You must always pay the following 'priority bills' first, before you pay for credit cards, loans, pay to view TV, etc:

  • Rent,
  • Mortgage,
  • Utilities, such as gas and electric,
  • Council tax,
  • TV licence,
  • Magistrates Court fines,
  • Child support.

These are 'priority' debts because late payment can have more serious consequences than for other debts. You could:

  • lose your home,
  • have your fuel supply cut off,
  • or even go to prison.
