You need to apply for a licence to place a scaffolds or hoardings on a public path or road, but you do not need a licence to place them on private property.
The hire company will usually make the application as Public Liability Insurance of at least £5 million is needed. We recommend you check the company credentials to ensure they are not illegally obstructing the highway.
Apply online for your permit, which currently costs £189 to process the application and for the first 28 days. Each following 28 days costs £80.
It will take us around 10 weekdays to process your application.
Works are restricted on some streets during major events or during certain periods in the year and you may not be given a permit.
