Traffic Signals

Find out how to report a problem with traffic signals.

We maintain traffic signals in the North East 24-hours a day, every day of the year. This includes:

  • Newcastle
  • Gateshead
  • Durham
  • Northumberland
  • North Tyneside
  • South Tyneside
  • Sunderland

Reporting a problem

You must report a problem with traffic signals in these areas online. You can report things like:

  • signal head facing the wrong way
  • burned-out red, green, or amber lamp
  • vehicle collision
  • missing access panel or exposed wiring
  • unresponsive pedestrian control
  • power outage
  • signals not changing colour

To help us identify and fix the problem as quickly as possible, you should be as specific as you can when telling us the location and nature of the fault. You can use free tools like What3Words to tell us the location.

Temporary signals

We are not responsible for temporary traffic signals like those used to manage traffic around roadworks.

You must report issues with these directly to the operator.

You can view all current roadworks, and the details of the company completing them, at one.network
