Fenham Hall Drive for Everyone is part of the Active Travel programme funded by the North East Combined Authority, using around £4million of government transport funding.
This exciting investment aims to make Fenham Hall Drive safer and more attractive for everyone, particularly those travelling to school.
Whether you are walking, wheeling, or cycling, we want to make it easier to access school, the library, GP, the bus and the local shops. We are also making a difference for those in vehicles by resurfacing sections of the street and fixing potholes.
We will make improvements between Grandstand Road and Two Ball Lonnen.
The project will:
- make it easier and safer to walk, wheel, and cycle
- make the street more attractive
- work closely with local schools, residents, businesses, and other organisations to shape the proposals.
These changes include:
- new signalised and zebra crossings will replace some informal pedestrian crossing points
- 1.5km 2-way segregated cycle track
- safer crossing at junctions for pedestrians and cyclists
- new benches, artwork, and planting
