Food waste bin
We have introduced a food waste recycling service to around 5,000 households in the city. We will contact households within the trial area directly and provide them with a kitchen caddy, caddy bags, and an outdoor food waste bin.
What you can put in your food waste bin
For those involved in the scheme, you can recycle all cooked and uncooked food in your food waste bin. This includes mouldy and out-of-date food.
You cannot recycle:
- Packaging
- Animal Waste
- Large quantities of liquid, for example cooking oil or milk
Remember to lock your outdoor food waste bin locked to prevent pets, animals and pests getting in.
Reducing your food waste
We should all aim to reduce our food waste. To help reduce the amount of food that ends up in our bins, we can:
- Plan our meals
- Store food correctly
- Get creative with our leftovers
