Request a new or replacement bin

Request a free bin repair or buy a new replacement bin.

Request a replacement bin or caddy

If your bin is damaged, for example, has a broken lid or broken wheels, you can request a free bin repair.

After submitting a bin repair request, your bin will need to be collected. Put a note on the broken bin and leave it somewhere visible and accessible, without blocking road access.

If your bin or caddy is beyond repair or stolen, you will need to buy a replacement bin or caddy.

The fee to replace a bin is £30 and a caddy is £5. There are no exemptions to the replacement bin and caddy charge. Even if you have a crime number from the police or are in receipt of benefits.

Bin requests for high occupancy properties

If you live in a high occupancy property, like a student property, and need a replacement bin, call 0191 278 7878 and ask for "Your Local Services".

You can only make these requests over the phone. Staff will need to clarify your occupancy and any other special circumstances.

Bins damaged by our waste crews

If you saw a bin or caddy fall into a waste vehicle, call 0191 278 7878 and ask for "Your Local Services". This is so advisors can take witness details and pass them on to waste managers. We can only accept these requests 3 days after the initial collection date.

You will need to provide a rough time and date this happened, so we can check waste vehicle cameras.
