Household waste and recycling centres

There are three sites in Newcastle where residents can recycle waste and dispose of extra rubbish.

These sites are open every day of the week except Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day. They close early at 4pm on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.

All visitors must use a vehicle or cargo bike. You cannot access our sites on foot.

Brunswick

• Brunswick Industrial Estate, Sandy Lane, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE13 7BA 
• Operating hours:
  • Monday to Friday: 8 am to 6 pm
  • Saturday and Sunday: 9 am to 6 pm
• Accepts van and large vehicle permit holders

Byker

• Glasshouse Street, off Walker Road, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE6 1AH 
• Operating hours:
  • Monday to Sunday: 8am - 6pm

Walbottle

• Walbottle Road, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE15 8HY 
• Operating hours:
  • Monday to Friday: 8 am to 6 pm
  • Saturday and Sunday: 9 am to 6 pm

Last entry

All our sites must close on the hour. So, last entry is:

• For small car loads, 15 minutes before closing
• For large car loads, 30 minutes before closing
• Larger vehicles with a Wastebot permit, 60 minutes before closing

Other recycling points

You can find other recycling points across the city. Here you can recycle materials such as glass, clothing, and newspapers. General waste is not accepted. Find your nearest recycling point.
