Today the park is host to a range of festivals and sporting events throughout the year.

The impressive art deco Palace of the Arts is the only remaining building of the 1929 North East Coast Exhibition and is now home to Wylam Brewery, with a micro-brewery on site and a vibrant events venue that can host up to 800 people.
The park has a stunning mix of tree-lined paths, large informal lawned areas, beautiful flowerbeds and a stunning lake that is home to a family of swans and ducks.
Exhibition Park has something for everyone with a popular play area, large open spaces for ball games or a relaxing picnic, a large skatepark and outdoor gym equipment. The network of footpaths and cycle paths makes it a popular with people working or studying in the city centre and is well used for dog walking, running or just chilling out.
There are also two croquet lawns and a pavilion with an active club house and tennis courts that are free to play.
Exhibition Park was named after the North East Coast Exhibition, attended by more than 4 million people in 1929.
The nearest car park is Claremont Road. There is no vehicle access allowed through the park to Wylam Brewery other than for the mobility impaired. Access needs to be pre-booked.
The nearest bus stop is on Great North Road
There is a good network of footpaths that run through Exhibition Park that are suitable for prams or wheelchairs
The Park Run takes place every Saturday at 9am. It’s free to enter and everyone is welcome.
Families are spoilt for choice for things to do with a great range of activities for all ages. The play area has a brilliant choice of fun things to do and the ducks and swans on the lake won’t say no to some extra grub.
Exhibition Park is home to our first Urban Green Café – serving food, hot & cold drinks and Cicarelli ice creams.
Not many parks have their own brewery on site. Wylam Brewery – a 30 barrel micro brewery – can be found in the Palace of the Arts and is the perfect spot for a pint of real ale on a summers evening. They serve up delicious food as well.
