Overview

Brandling Park was officially opened in 1880. This small Victorian park in the Jesmond area offers a place of peace and tranquillity in the heart of Newcastle.

Description

Brandling Park can be found adjacent to the Great North Road. Despite its busy location, the popular park maintains a quiet village green atmosphere and is made up of informal lawned areas, lined by trees and a pleasant mix of flowers and shrubs.

Its relaxed nature makes it a popular meeting place for local residents and students and is popular for walking and informal recreation. The good network of footpaths and cycle paths makes it popular for those working in the city centre.

The bowling green and pavilion (no longer in public use) was Newcastle’s first municipal bowling green (opened in 1882).

Brandling Park is connected to nearby Exhibition Park by an underpass, where you will find facilities including a café and toilets.
