Applying for a Landlord Permit

Landlord Permits are for landlords or letting agents who own or take care of properties in areas with permit scheme restrictions. These permits provide exemptions to bays with permit restrictions. See where you need a Landlord Permit.

Where you can use your Landlord Permit

Landlord Permits can be used across all permit parking schemes during the hours of enforcement. You must check the bay is for permit holders.

The permit cannot be used:

  • in off-street car parks
  • on-street pay to park bays
  • on road restrictions (for example, yellow lines or disabled bays)

Applying for a permit

Before submitting your application, ensure:

  • you are eligible for this permit type
  • you are applying at least 14 days before the permit is needed (if possible)
  • you have the right documents - preferably in PDF or Word format

You do not pay for your permit when you apply. You pay after your application is approved.

You can get up to two permits per landlord or letting agent.

Documents you will need

For your Landlord Permit application, you will need proof of ownership of a property within a permit parking scheme. 

Accepted proof of ownership documents are:

  • tenancy agreement
  • contract for property management (for letting agents)
  • mortgage statement deeds
  • land registry document

All documents must include:

  • your name
  • the property address
  • a date within the past 3 months, or have tenancy start/end dates

After you apply

You should receive an email within 14 days. Please check your junk/spam folder.

If your application is approved

The email will include a link to pay for your permit. You need to pay within 14 days, or your application may be withdrawn.

If you have not heard from us

Check your junk or spam folders. If you still have not received an email after 14 days, contact us at parkingpermits@newcastle.gov.uk. 

Include your reference number in the email.

When can you expect to receive your permit

Permits are posted to the landlord's address within 7 days of payment being made. However, if a future start date has been requested, permits will be posted in time for the permit start date.

For permit renewals, you should receive your new permit within 7 days of paying.
