Before you apply

You can apply for your Blue Badge online.

We will send you a confirmation email when we get your application. It can take up to 12 weeks for us process your application.

What you will need for your application

In your application, you will need to include the following information:

• a recent passport style photograph of yourself
• your National Insurance number
• an email address
• proof of your address, such as a Council Tax bill, valid driving licence, an NHS letter
• proof of identity, such as a passport, birth certificate or a valid driving licence
• your registration as severely sight impaired and Certificate of Visual Impairment (if applicable)
• relevant medical evidence with details of your diagnoses, prescribed medication, treatment and prognosis

Sending us your evidence

The above evidence can be included in your online application as word document or a photo or scan, as a PNG, JPG, PDF or GIF, no larger than 20MB each. 

If you cannot upload your evidence to your application, you can send it to us in the post to the below address. We cannot return documents, so please send copies. Please include your application reference number starting with BBA on any evidence you send us.

If you are not automatically eligible for a Blue Badge

As part of your application, you will be asked to send us information and evidence about your health condition or disability.

This includes:

• details about the difficulties you face and how it affects your journeys
• reports, letters, and other documents from health or social care professionals. These must include details of your situation, not just support for your application

We may ask for further supporting evidence when assessing your application. We will let you know if this is the case. You can help speed up this process by giving us as much evidence as possible when you first make your application. 

Applying for an Organisational Blue Badge

You can apply for an Organisational Blue Badge online.

In your application, you will need to include:

• the number of disabled people you transport
• details of the vehicle adaptations
• if the vehicle is licenced under the Disabled Passenger Vehicle taxation class
• confirmation that the vehicle is only used to transport disabled people

You will receive an email confirmation when we have received your application. It can take us up to 12 weeks to process an application.
