Newcastle City Council has launched seventeen brand‑new shared ownership homes at Pottery Bank in Walker, giving residents an affordable and flexible route onto the property ladder.

Shared ownership is a Government‑supported scheme designed to make home ownership more accessible to local people.

At Pottery Bank, eligible buyers can purchase an initial share of between 10% and 75% of the property’s market value and pay rent on the remainder. Additional shares can be purchased over time (known as staircasing) with the option to eventually own 100% of the home.

This approach significantly reduces the upfront costs of buying a home and gives residents more control over their long‑term housing journey.

The Pottery Bank development includes a range of high-quality two and three bedroom homes designed for modern living. Features include:

  • Contemporary kitchens and bathrooms
  • Spacious, well‑planned layouts
  • Private parking
  • Solar panels and air‑source heat pumps
  • Electric vehicle charging points

Situated just off Walker Road, Pottery Bank offers excellent access to everyday essentials, including local shops, schools, healthcare services, bus routes and leisure facilities. Its location makes it an ideal choice for first-time buyers, families and those looking to right-size into a new home.
