Leader of the council, Cllr Colin Ferguson, has celebrated the investment after the council secured funding from the £1.5 million Pride in Place Impact Fund.
The Government grant fund was allocated to local authorities to award to community and voluntary organisations for improvement work to places and spaces.
A total of 68 applications were made to make a visible difference to neighbourhoods, bring communities together and create places residents can feel proud of. Grants of between £10,700 and £30,000 have now been made to 20 incredible organisations across Newcastle.
Those successful range from community centres and youth projects to health and wellbeing services and sports groups.
One of those groups receiving funding is Shieldfield Art Works which has been awarded £14,900 to improve accessibility to the workshop and gallery.
Friends of Jesmond Library has secured £25,000 to help maintain and restore its volunteer-run Grade II listed building, ensuring it remains a valued community asset for years to come.
Community interest company Jobes Boxing Club has also received £25,000 to install new changing and shower facilities, improving accessibility and supporting a wider range of users.
Cllr Colin Ferguson, Leader of Newcastle City Council, said: "Our communities are at the heart of everything that makes Newcastle a great place to live.
“It was important to make sure Newcastle took advantage of this funding as we know just how important these organisations are to our city.
“From youth projects to community buildings, sports groups to neighbourhood libraries, these are organisations working tirelessly to improve where we call home.
"This is vital funding that will allow community organisations to expand the support and opportunities they provide to our residents.
"We will always welcome more Government funding to benefit our city but that does not mean that our administration will stop beating the drum for more investment.
"We are proud to be working with organisations that know their communities best and can deliver lasting benefits for local people."

The national £150 million Pride in Place Impact Fund was established by the Government earlier this year in a bid to rebuild community pride.
The remaining funding allocated to Newcastle will be used for improvements across parks and green spaces and high streets.
This is a separate fund to the Government's wider Pride in Place programme, which will see £80 million invested in four neighbourhoods across Newcastle.
Elswick South, Fawdon South, Walker North, and Throckley, Newburn and Walbottle have each been selected to receive up to £20 million over the next ten years.
The funding will support improvements to community spaces, projects, events and activities, with local people playing a central role in deciding how the money is spent.
