Applications are now open for Round 6 of the Newcastle Youth Fund, offering vital support to organisations working with young people across the city.

Youth organisations across Newcastle are being invited to apply for up to £25,000 funding to support projects that empower and uplift young people and make a positive difference in communities across the city.

Now in its 6th Year, the Newcastle Youth Fund continues to champion a youth-led approach to funding. Since its launch, the fund has distributed more than £2.5 million to grassroots initiatives that provide vital support and opportunities for young people.

The fund is open to not-for-profit organisations working with:

• Young people aged 13 to 19

• Young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) up to the age of 25

What sets the fund apart is its youth panel, a group of local young people who play a central role in reviewing applications, selecting successful projects, and conducting monitoring visits to see the impact of the funding first-hand.

Cllr Rob Austin, Cabinet Member for Culture and Communities said: “Newcastle Youth Fund continues to make a real difference to young people across our city by investing in projects that support, inspire and empower them. What makes this fund special is that young people themselves help decide where the funding goes, ensuring it reflects the needs and ambitions of their communities. I’d encourage organisations to apply and be part of this important work.”

One project which has recently benefitted from the fund is a YMCA Newcastle’s Project Fusion, a welcoming dance project where young people express themselves, build confidence and stay active.

Linda Mckie, Head of Operations said: “Thanks to the Newcastle Youth Fund Fusion can offer fun, inclusive movement for those who don’t always feel comfortable in traditional settings, helping to boost wellbeing, self esteem and positive peer relationships.

The project has also strengthened YMCA Newcastle’s offer by increasing our reach, attracting new young people and showcasing our ability to deliver creative, youth led programmes.  It has helped build stronger community visibility, supported staff development, and contributed to a more diverse and engaging activity programme across the organisation.”

Organisations can apply for grants ranging from £10,001 to £25,000 to deliver 12-month projects starting from 1 April 2027.

Applications open at 12 noon on Friday 18th June and close at 5pm on Friday 17 July.
