The Newcastle Civic Centre Jobs Fair has attracted nearly 4,000 over the previous three years, and large numbers are again expected at the latest event.
Hosted by Newcastle City Council and Job Centre Plus, it will take place at Newcastle’s Civic Centre on Tuesday 6th October from 10am to 2pm.
Attendees who are looking for work or a potential career change will have the chance to speak to many employers and training providers about their current vacancies or career opportunities, which include full or part time jobs, a step up a career ladder, seasonal work or apprenticeships.
Newcastle City Council will be recruiting for a host of roles, whether that’s hospitality or domestic cleaning, social workers or early years staff, solicitors or engineers. There’s a job for everyone when it comes to making the Toon tick.
Some of the country’s biggest company’s will be recruting for Newcastle’s based staff but some of the region’s very own businesses will also be looking to build on their existing local talent. Regional employers in attendance include Disability North, Home Instead Newcastle, the Percy Hedley Foundation, Newcastle University, Thompsons of Prudhoe, Newcastle United Foundation, Newcastle Talking Therapies and Everyturn Mental Health.
Advice and support will also be available on the day, as well as a number of training providers showcasing how they can help people into employment or training.
Cllr Owen Burbidge, Cabinet Member for Inclusive Economy and Skills, said: “The jobs fair has a strong track record of helping people into work or into a new career. I’m sure this year will build on the success we have seen at previous events.
“Instead of sending off countless applications and hearing nothing back, people can meet employers face-to-face, get answers on the spot and make a strong first impression. It’s also a great chance to explore new career paths that may not have been on their radar.
“I’d encourage anyone who is looking for work, considering a career move or who is simply curious about what the city and region have to offer to come along. There will be employers and training providers from a wide range of sectors, all eager to meet new talent."
