Now in its third year, Byker Groove is a celebration of local talent, family fun and community togetherness that promises an energetic mix of performances, interactive activities and surprises for people of all ages.
The day will get underway with a burst of sound and colour as Cherry & Bee invite little ones to explore music, movement and light at Baby Sensory Disco before folk trio Right of Way kick off a diverse programme of live entertainment.
And don’t forget to keep your eyes peeled for Two for Joy. A pair of enchanting magpies, brought to life by Moving Parts Arts, will swish and swoop through the crowds and bring a touch of magic to the festival atmosphere.
Live performances will include carnival band Cocrico Collective, 'Nigeordian' singer‑songwriter Georgia May and rising neo-soul, jazz and funk artist Rivkala. Families will also have the chance to join in Rave and Play, a high‑energy, child‑friendly dance session
Away from the stage Hadrian Square will be buzzing with activity all day long as people try their hands at screen printing and get creative with arts and crafts. Circus workshops and aerial performances will also bring a sense of wonder to the event.
Byker Groove is a fantastic opportunity for residents and visitors alike to enjoy a summer’s day filled with music, fun and creativity. Whether you’re dancing with the kids, discovering new artists or simply soaking up the carnival atmosphere, this is one event you won’t want to miss.
