Proposed measures to prevent traffic making an illegal turn to use a residential street as a short cut have been set out.
People are being invited to comment on the plans, which could see action taken against motorists who ignore the no entry restriction at the junction of Christon Road and Hyde Terrace, in Gosforth.
Newcastle City Council has launched a six-week consultation to gather views on proposals for camera enforcement at the location.
It follows concerns being raised over a number of years about the amount of vehicles using Hyde Terrace as a short cut, despite the no entry restriction from Christon Road.
If plans are approved, drivers who continue to ignore the no entry sign could face a penalty of up to £70.
People can give their views on the proposals by taking part in the consultation at www.letstalknewcastle.co.uk.
The consultation closes on Friday 24 October.
