Newcastle City Council has launched a new app to make recycling and bin collections easier than ever.

Newcastle residents can now stay on top of their recycling and bin collections with the launch of a brand-new mobile app designed to make waste management simple, smart, and stress-free.

Cllr Alex Hay, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Neighbourhood Services said: “We’re proud to launch the Newcastle Bins app as part of our ongoing commitment to making Newcastle a cleaner, greener, and more connected city. The app puts the power of information directly into residents’ hands, making it easier than ever to stay on top of bin collections, recycle right, and reduce waste. It’s a smart step forward for our city and the environment.”

The NCL Bins app is packed with helpful features to keep households informed and on track including;

  • The collection calendar which allows residents to quickly check their bin collection days
  • Bin day reminders which send notifications straight to users’ mobile phone so they never miss a collection.
  • Service disruption updates which give real time updates about any changes to collections
  • A waste A–Z, the ultimate recycling search tool where residents can check how and where to recycle or reuse almost anything
  • The Waste Game, a fun sorting game that lets users test their recycling knowledge
  • Available in 6 languages

When downloading the app, users need to make sure to tap “Yes” to allow notifications so they can receive timely reminders and service alerts.

The app is now available to download on both iOS and Android.

Simply search “NCL Bins” or “Newcastle Bins” on the App Store or Google Play.

Residents can also check their bin day online
