To celebrate this year’s National Volunteers' Week across Newcastle’s parks, we’re hosting a programme of open volunteering sessions across the city.
Between 1 to 7 June, there will be a variety of opportunities to get a taste of what it’s like supporting your local green spaces through volunteering in the parks.
From community gardening, nature friendly veg growing, litter picking and offering a helping hand in the popular Pets Corner, there’s something for everyone to try.
We’re also teaming up with partners at the Ouseburn Trust, Wild Ouseburn and The Natural History Society of Northumbria (NHSH) who will be joining us for certain sessions to provide insight into how volunteering in the parks provides better habitats and environments for local wildlife to thrive.
Signing up for a taster session is a chance to meet likeminded people in your community whilst helping to maintain and improve green spaces throughout the city, benefitting both people and wildlife. It’s a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience, perfect your green-fingered skills with park rangers and gardeners or learn about animal care from our keepers in Pets Corner.
Throughout the week, we’ll also be shining a spotlight across Newcastle Parks’ socials on individuals from our valued volunteer community - so keep an eye out to see what they’ve loved and gained from their experience volunteering too.
If you’re over 18 years of age and keen to get stuck-in in your local park, join us for Volunteers' Week to discover what parks volunteering is all about. We recommend signing up in advance to secure your place via the links below:
