Following on from the success of previous events, Newcastle City Council’s Apprenticeship Recruitment Event will return on Tuesday 29th April.
The event will showcase a number of apprenticeships at the council, giving people the chance to start a career and earn while they learn.
Among the apprenticeship opportunities are Plasterers, Joiners, Gas engineers, Mechanics, Civil engineers, Highways roadworkers, Administration and more.
Cllr Dan Greenhough, Cabinet Member for Economy, Jobs and Skills, said: “This event is an opportunity for us to showcase the importance of apprenticeships and the role they play not only in the day-to-day running of the council but also helping people take their first steps in a career.
“An apprenticeship provides opportunities to gain new skills, learn about working in different environments and gain qualifications, all while receiving a salary.
“The council has invested greatly in its Apprenticeship Programme and currently has the most number of apprentices, with 230 currently learning while earning.
“We hope those interested in an apprenticeship and starting a career with the council come along to this event to find out more about what is on offer.”
The event takes place from 3pm to 6.30pm on Tuesday 29th April at the Civic Centre, Newcastle.
Attendees will be able to apply for council apprenticeships at the event and support will be on hand to help complete application forms.
Staff will also talk about the roles available, providing more information about the role, the training involved, the application process and answer any questions on the day.
Apprenticeships are open to anyone aged 16 and over, and we would welcome applications from people of all ages and backgrounds.
