Creating a greener city together will be the key theme of Newcastle’s second Climate Change Forum.

It will look at green infrastructure to adapt to climate change while enhancing Newcastle's nature and biodiversity.

Newcastle City Council hosted its first Newcastle Climate Change Forum in 2024, and after a capacity crowd took part to discuss plans to tackle climate change and work towards a greener and more sustainable city, a second forum has been arranged for February.

Taking place at Newcastle Civic Centre on Thursday 20th February, the council’s second forum is an opportunity to gather businesses, local organisations, and residents to discuss Newcastle's journey in tackling climate change and collectively working towards a greener city.

From the last Forum, the council received important feedback from attendees which been implemented into its strategic planning and the planning of the second forum, as the local authority seeks to ensure this quarterly event is steered by its residents.

Cllr Juna Sathian, Newcastle City Council Cabinet Member for Climate and Transport, said: “I thoroughly enjoyed the last Climate Change Forum in October, and I am excited to announce that Newcastle’s Climate Change Forum will be returning for a second time in February.

“This forum is themed on nature, biodiversity and adaptivity, a key focus in my portfolio and for the council.

“We are excited to invite residents from across the city, representing our local businesses, organisations, and communities.

“This will be an opportunity to learn and have your say on key projects occurring throughout the city to make Newcastle greener together.”

Attendees will hear from representatives from the North East Community Forest Partnership, the Blue Green City project and Council representatives who are leading on biodiversity and nature.

It takes place in the Civic Centre’s Banqueting Hall from 5:30-8pm. Tickets for Newcastle’s Climate Change Forum can booked for free at Eventbrite.
