Newcastle City Council is proud to announce a new partnership with In Our Place, a series of online courses for families and professionals underpinned by the Solihull Approach. Through this collaboration, the Council has invested in a multi-user license that allows all families or those with caring responsibilities for a child or children 0-19 who live in Newcastle to access high-quality online courses at no cost.

The Solihull Approach, a not-for-profit NHS organization, has been established since 1996 and is renowned for its work in emotional health and wellbeing support for children, families, and adults. The courses are grounded in rigorous research by a team of clinical psychologists and healthcare professionals, ensuring that practitioners and families benefit from proven strategies and insights. Every aspect of the training is informed by sound psychological principles to support the holistic development of children.

This initiative provides parents, carers and families and practitioners with essential tools to support every stage, from pregnancy through to adolescence. There is also support for adult relationships and for teenagers. In Our Place courses help parents, carers and practitioners deepen their understanding of child brain development, how to assess behavioural needs, and nurture strong relationships that foster kindness, confidence, and emotional resilience in children.

Cllr Lesley Storey, Cabinet Member for Children and Families at Newcastle City Council said: “Investing in our children’s emotional health is an investment in the future of our community. By providing free access to Solihull Approach learning, we can equip Newcastle families with the skills and knowledge they need to support their children’s wellbeing and growth.”
