Getting to East End Library and Community Hub
East End Library and Community Hub is on Shields Road. The library is easy to get to and has:
- very good local bus routes in both directions
- Byker Metro station just a 4-minute walk away
- cycle racks on Flora Street
- limited free parking on local streets to the side and rear of the building (not on Shields Road) - check signs for parking time limits
- electric car charging points

At East End Library and Community Hub, you will be able to:
- borrow books for adults and children
- reserve books, toys, and board games
- print and photocopy
- use public computers and scanners for up to 3 hours a day
- get advice on using our BorrowBox app to browse our eBooks, eAudiobooks and eMagazines
- get help with council enquiries
- use a freephone to other council services
- hire meeting and interview rooms
The public computers are automatically turned off 15 minutes before closing time

- attend our Under 5s Storytime session: Fridays, 11am to 11:30am
- borrow or order a ‘Starting School’ book bag: each bag contains 4 books to help you start a conversation with your child about the school day and how they feel about this big change
- check out the 'Soundtrack of Your Life' booklet from Playlist for Life at our help point: this booklet helps people with dementia and their carers find special songs
- Housing and Drop in service for Newcastle Homes: Monday 10am to 2pm and Wednesday 10am to 1.45pm
- Private Rented Service Fridays 10am to 1pm.
