Multi-storey building safety

We have many measures and precautions in place to ensure all of the multi-storey buildings we manage meet the highest levels of building safety standards.  These include carrying out regular inspections, such as regular fire door checks, installing safety features, such as smoke alarms, and complying with building regulations and legislation.

To watch short videos explaining these features, visit Newcastle City Council high rise building safety information - YouTube.

What should I do if there is a fire or other emergency in my building?

Watch the short film below to see the evacuation procedure for your building.  It is very important that everyone knows what they should do in an emergency - if you aren't sure or if you are concerned about how you would manage in an emergency, please contact us by emailing buildingsafety@newcastle.gov.uk or calling 0191 278 8600.  To watch this information in a different language, visit High rise building evacuation procedure translated versions - YouTube.

Our building safety resident engagement strategy

Our Building Safety Resident Engagement Strategy sets out what we do to ensure that people who live in high-rise buildings are aware of the measures we put in place to keep them safe from fire and other structural incidents and how we ensure residents are able to ask questions, raise concerns and be included in decision-making about their building.  Visit Building Safety Resident Engagement Strategy | Newcastle City Council to find out more about this.
