We've got a fantastic selection of Apprenticeship vacancies available this year. During the event, staff on hand to help you with your application. We will also have staff from our Careers Team on hand to talk about other options available within the council. Apprentice Business Management Assistant 

You will be based within the busy Social Care Finance Team, and you will work towards a Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship. In this varied role, you will provide business management support on finance related matters, maintenance of management information systems and production of data that will enable the processing of accurate payments and income collection.

Apprentice Assistant Traffic Signals Design Engineer 

We are looking for an enthusiastic person to join our Regional Traffic Signals Service as an Apprentice Assistant Traffic Signals Design Engineer. You will support the team to deliver major transport improvement schemes, not just in Newcastle, but also working with partners in the other North East local authorities. If you aspire to really make a difference and are passionate about delivering effective services, then our Traffic Signals Design team, could be the place for you.

Organisational Development Apprentice 

You will be working in our Organisational Development Team and provide support to our team of practitioners delivering our People Plan activity, employee support programmes, and supporting our Learning Management System. This may include providing advice and guidance to employees around our training programmes and assisting in the maintenance of our e-learning system. 

Apprentice Residential Care Officer 

Do you want to make a positive difference to the lives of young people? 

We are committed to providing quality care and achieving positive outcomes for the young people we look after. You will support a team of Residential Care Officers in one of our Childrens Homes to enable the young people we care for to have positive experiences, grow, develop, and thrive. You will be given full training and be fully supported to develop in this role.

Apprentice Customer Service Advisor 

If you are a positive person who thrives off helping people, we want to hear from you.  

We are looking to recruit Apprentice Customer Service Advisors to support our busy Contact Centre and help our customers with a range of queries relating to Newcastle City Council services. You don’t need any prior experience as full training and support will be given to help you develop in the role. You will also study towards a Level 2 Customer Service apprenticeship.

Apprentice Service Improvement Assistant – Newcastle Change Team

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Council’s newly established Newcastle Change Team, working at the heart of the Customer Experience Programme.

As an Apprentice Service Improvement Assistant, you’ll support the team to develop and improve processes that enhance both staff and resident experience, gaining hands‑on experience in service improvement, digital change and resident‑focused ways of working.

Apprentice Highways Roadworker

Have you ever thought about a career in Network Management and Construction? Do you want to work on exciting projects across the city? 

You will be working with a team of experienced Highways Operatives to carry out maintenance and construction duties, including laying paving, installing concrete, tarmac, and drainage.

Apprentice Highways Traffic Signals Technician 

If you aspire to really make a difference and are passionate about delivering effective services, then working as a traffic signals technician in our Traffic Signals team, part of Network Management and Construction, could be the place for you. 

The role involves installation and maintenance of traffic signals across the Northeast of England and assisting in the delivery specific projects.

Repairs and Construction – Trades 

We will have a number of apprentice vacancies available: 

Apprentice Plasterer

You will work on small-scale domestic jobs, large repair and restoration projects and on commercial developments such as schools.

Apprentice Joiner

You will get hands on experience in carpentry skills working with building materials (most often wood) to create and install building components. 

Apprentice Gas Engineer

You will get hands on experience to select, install, service and commission all aspects of plumbing and heating systems.

Our Apprentice Manager will be on hand throughout the event to talk in more detail about all of the roles listed above. They’ll be available to answer any questions and explain what each apprenticeship involves.
