Tell us you've bought a property to rent
If you are buying an empty property that you intend to rent out to tenants, you will need to advise us immediately so that you are not charged unnecessary council tax.
Once you have a fixed completion date for buying the property, please advise us within 21 days of the change taking place. This helps make sure that you are not charged unnecessary council tax and allows us to quickly issue a correct bill.
Please ensure that the information provided is accurate. Providing false, misleading or incorrect details may result in you having to pay more council tax than necessary and may delay a new bill being issued.
To tell us you have bought a property you will need to provide the following:
- full names of all new owners and their correspondence addresses
- your contact details
- full address of the property that has been purchased
- provide the sale completion date
- provide the names of the solicitors involved in the sale
- if possible a sale completion statement
