Carers disregard and exemptions

If someone in your household provides care or support (or both) to another person in your home, they may be disregarded from council tax, this means they are not counted for council tax purposes.

You may be exempt from paying council tax if you had to leave your property to permanently live elsewhere to provide care to someone else.

You may be exempt from council tax if you have had to leave you property permanently to live elsewhere to receive care or medical treatment.
