Adult social care is a wide range of activities to help people who may be:
- older
- living with disability
- suffering from a physical or mental illness
The cost of providing this support to help people live independently, safe and well is increasing.
This is due to:
- rising demand for services that support our most vulnerable residents
- increased costs due to inflation
To meet the cost of providing these services we are encouraged by the Government to include an adult social care precept on our council tax bills.
The amount charged can increase by up to 2 percent of the total council tax bill each year. And the money raised by the adult social care precept can only be spent on adult social care.
This extra income ensures we are able to provide essential frontline services for vulnerable people.
