What the Newcastle Youth Fund funds

Your application must: 

• be for a project which supports and involves young people aged 13-19, or up to 25 with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND), who live in Newcastle
• demonstrate that young people are involved in the design and delivery of the project 
• be for a single project, including revenue costs specifically associated with this project (for example, staff salaries, office overheads or equipment hire) - you must submit a separate application for different projects
• only include overhead or running costs for the organisation of up to 10% of your overall project costs
• be for a project taking place in one of four localities, and reflect your knowledge of the local area and its individual needs

Localities

Our 26 council ward areas are split into four localities.

In total a single organisation can:

• submit up to four applications
• receive up to two awards

Applications can be either for:

• the same type of project in different localities
• two different types of project in the same locality

Your application should reflect the individuality and knowledge of the locality - you cannot submit duplicated applications for the same project in different localities.

Continued funding

If your project already exists or has been previously funded by Newcastle Youth Fund, you can apply for continued funding.

We expect you to demonstrate how the project has been successful and why continued funding is needed as part of your application. 

Fund themes

Your project must also meet at least two of the Youth Fund’s themes. These are to:

• Support young people’s mental health.
• Support young people’s physical health.
• Support individual and community resilience.
• Increase aspirations, promote education, training and employment.
• Reduce risk taking behaviours (exploitation, County Lines, anti-social behaviour, violence, drugs and alcohol and sexual health).
• Support for young people with SEND.
• Support for ethnic minority young people.
• Support for LGBTQ+ young people.
• Support to tackle violence against women and girls and support for boys and young men.
   

What we cannot fund

We cannot fund projects which:

• duplicate existing provision 
• exclusively take place during school holidays - the Newcastle Holidays Activities Fund is available for this
• offer formal education or tuition 
• promote a particular religion or directly support or promote a political party
