Care homes and housing

Moving into a care home is an option if you need more care and support than can be provided in your own home. There are 3 types of care home which all provide communal areas, meals, a room, and en-suite bathrooms.

• Residential homes provide basic care and support, such as help with dressing or someone to call on during the night.
• Nursing homes provide personal and qualified nursing care 24 hours a day.
• Care homes with dementia care  provide specialist dementia nursing care

Newcastle City Council commissions some care homes in Newcastle to provide care and support. You can see the list of local care homes on InformationNOW and the services' Care Quality Commission rating.
