Newcastle Neighbourhoods is about working within and alongside people in their own neighbourhoods. Focusing on the assets and strengths within a community, and making connections between these in order to strengthen communities. This approach is called Asset Based Community Development (ABCD).
This approach means:
- Investing in the assets that are in your community, this can be places like community buildings, or assets like community groups and networks.
- Reviewing the ways we deliver our services or commission services at a neighbourhood level
- Changing how our adult social care teams work so they are closer to local neighbourhoods.
- Balancing our support with support from services in your neighbourhood as well as your own individual support networks.
