Rehabilitation services at Connie Lewcock Centre
Our rehabilitation service is based at Connie Lewcock Resource Centre, in the outer west of Newcastle. This is a live in service where you receive short-term rehabilitation and 24-hour support. We work with Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals and Health and Social Care Community Teams.
We support people who are:
- recovering after a hospital admission, who need more support before returning home
- at home, who need support to prevent a hospital stay
- at home, after a crisis situation who need help to regain confidence, independence and improve wellbeing
What to expect during your stay
When you arrive we will talk to you to find out how you are managing at home. We will have a conversation with you to understand your situation. To find out what’s working well and where we can help. We will work with you to create your individual plan. We support you to achieve your aims and priorities. This could include equipment to help you with daily living skills.
During your stay you will get support from a range of health and social care staff. We will help you to:
- regain and maintain your independence
- improve your mobility and confidence
- look after your health and wellbeing
Facilities at Connie Lewcock Resource Centre
The building is all on 1 level. All our bathrooms are accessible. You will stay in a private room. We offer balanced meals, snacks and drinks throughout the day, to suit your dietary needs. There is a laundry service.

- communal lounge areas to socialise and relax
- outdoor mobility area and gardens with seating
- physical activity sessions
- garden therapy sessions
- weekly dog therapy sessions from Wag & Co
- Home visits
- social activities such as: arts and crafts and bingo
Before your stay with us
You will need to make your own arrangements to get to GP or hospital appointments. We may temporarily register you with Holmside Medical Group at Chapel House.
Please bring with you:
- clothes and toiletries
- your prescribed medication. This must be dispensed by a pharmacist and have pharmacy labels, with your name on. You can take your own prescribed medication while staying with us, if it's appropriate.
