Meals at Home can help you to live independently. If you're finding it harder to shop or cook for yourself or someone you care for we can help. You can get hot, nutritious, tasty meals delivered to your home. We deliver meals every day of the year, including Christmas Day and bank holidays. This service is available to anyone who would like to use it.
You can get meals delivered to you every day, up to 7 days a week, 365 days a year. For as long as you need them. You can order meals for just short periods to cover temporary situations such as your carers being away or poorly or if you are recovering from an illness or operation. Meals can also be arranged in an emergency.
Our meals are:
- 1 or 2 course meals with a drink
- delivered hot and ready to eat
- delivered between 11am and 2pm on the day of the week you choose
- cooked from fresh ingredients on the day you get them
- chosen by you to suit your dietary needs, allergies or intolerances
- nutritionally balanced
You can choose from our range of meals. There is always a meat based meal and a vegetarian meal. There is a diabetic pudding option.
If you need extra help, our drivers can help to put your meal on a plate, get cutlery and pour your drink

Delivery of your meals
The team of delivery drivers are fully police checked, through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The drivers work on a rota, so you will see our drivers regularly. All meals are delivered

- delivered between 11am and 2pm on the day of the week you choose
If you need extra help, our drivers can help to put your meal on a plate, get cutlery and pour your drink
You can choose from 3 savoury meals and a hot or cold dessert. A small carton of fruit juice is included with your meal. This helps to keep you hydrated and boost your vitamin C.
All our meals are produced by locally employed staff at our kitchen in Newcastle. We use local ingredients where possible. This means that we can deliver our meals quickly, while supporting the local economy and protecting the environment.

Cost of meals for private customers
The cost of the meals for people who pay for meals :
- 2 course meal costs £7.50
- 1 course costs £5.00
You will be sent an invoice each month. You can pay by direct debit, or over the phone with a credit or debit card.
Cost of meals for people who get support from Adult Social Care
People who have meals at home arranged for them by Adult Social Care at Newcastle City Council your payments will be arranged with Adult Social Care. You may need to have a financial assessment to find out if you can get help from the Council to pay for this support.
People who receive a personal budget or a direct payment from Adult Social Care could choose to buy meals at home. Speak to Adult Social Care to find out more.
Register as a customer
Contact us to register as a private customer. You will complete a form where you can tell us your:
- contact details
- dietary requirements
- allergies or food intolerances that you have
- emergency contact details: This helps if we are unable to contact you when we deliver your meal. We will call your emergency contact if we are worried about your wellbeing.
- if you need extra help to put your meal on a plate, get cutlery and pour your drink

How to order your meals
Contact us to order your first meal. You can choose which day or days of the week you want meals to be delivered. You can have meals delivered every day or as many days as you need.
When you are a registered customer, our delivery driver will give you an order form. You select your meal choices for the following week. If you need help with the form the driver can help you.
Meals for lunch clubs and day centres
We also provide meals to residential accommodation, lunch clubs and day centres.

We can deliver hot meals for your service either:
- individually packaged, ready to serve
- in large serving dishes for you to serve up
Meals at Home is food sold at a distance, as it is ordered in advance and delivered to you. We explain our allergen information in the following ways:
- Information about allergens in our current menu's dishes is available to download
- New customers receive an information pack. This includes our full menu and list of allergens.
- When you register as a customer you must tell us any allergies, intolerances or dietary requirements that you have.
- When you place your first order, our staff have your allergen information that you have provided.
- You can contact us with any questions about our menus or allergens.
- Meals at Home drivers are fully trained. They have the allergen information for our menus. You can talk to our drivers if you have any questions.
Natasha's Law helps protect customers through improved food labelling. To clearly explain any allergen information, or ingredients in the food that may cause an allergic reaction. The law covers how 3 types of food must be labelled: By law:
- pre-packed food for direct sale must be labelled
- unwrapped food does not need to be labelled
- food sold at a distance all the menus and advertisements must include allergen information
